A highlight of the year for our children and young people is the Participation Team’s ‘summer programme’, and this year Abdul, Mike and Raj have pulled out all the stops to host an action-packed timetable.

The summer programme gives members of our participation forums the chance to get together and have fun, but this year we opened several of the events to all children in care and care leavers.

The fun kicked off at the baton relay for the Commonwealth Games, we stayed for the party and had a great time with Perry the Bull!

We soaked up the sunshine at couple of the T20 cricket matches at Edgbaston and had great seats in the Sandwell Aquatic Centre to see the diving finals.

Inspired by the games we then went on to enjoy canoeing, rock climbing and archery at Malthouse Stables and picked a great day to go for a hike over the Long Mynd in Shropshire.

There were lots of art and crafts activities throughout the programme, and we had fun filled days at Dudley Zoo and Ingestre Hall. We also found time to fit a few games of bowling (and pizza) into our packed schedule.
